Together with the Minster, probably THE landmark of Freiburg's old town. Water from the Dreisam river is channeled through almost all alleys. A dream for children, for some parents rather the opposite. I remember that many years ago, when cars were still allowed to drive through some alleys and the Augustinerplatz was a huge parking lot with streams all around, one or the other tourist vehicle had a "mishap" when parking (much to the amusement of passers-by, who then usually helped to get the car out, laughing).

Nothing against the Münster, but the Bächle are still an attraction today. When we arrived in Freiburg, there was no water to be found anywhere. But on the second day, everything was fine again. Nobody could tell me why sometimes there is no water in the Bächle... not even at the Tourist Information. The people of Freiburg take it easy.
