    Schächerkapelle, Heiligkreuztal
The brick Calvary or Schächerkapelle, located outside the monastery walls and on the way to the Heiligkreuztaler place of execution (gallows), was built in 1619 by Katharina von Roggweil and restored in 1715 by Anna von Holtzingen.
It is an elongated, narrow building with closed rear and side walls and three small cross-seam vaults that open to the front in the three arcades. On the back wall are three wooden crosses, the middle one with Christ. The two thieves no longer exist. According to an oral tradition, they were taken off by citizens of Heiligkreuztal because they wore cruel facial features and people are said to have feared them. The term "thief", hardly used in today's parlance, has the meaning of robber or murderer. At least since Luther's translation of the Bible, the two men crucified with Jesus have been referred to as thieves. Bands of thieves were often open to the front and stood near a place of execution.
