Count Roon had the landscape park laid out and a family crypt built in the rear part in 1876. A rock-strewn valley is included in the English landscape garden. Since 1893, a neo-Gothic chapel built by his son Waldemar based on a design by the Berlin architect Wilhelm Walter (1850–1914) has risen above the crypt.[2] The Görlitz master builder Friedrich Bruno Neumann was responsible for the construction, and the bell was donated by Kaiser Wilhelm II.

Count Albrecht Theodor Emil von Roon was the Prussian Minister of War and Navy. He only lived until 1879. He was already very old when he purchased the castle. It is therefore all the more obvious that he also addressed his (own) death architecturally and had a mausoleum with 18 burial chambers built in the park. A mountain was blasted for the mausoleum. The excellent signage explains this. A magnificent neo-Gothic chapel on the crypt, built by Waldemar von Roon, was demolished in 1980; only photographs remain.
