The original pump stood here more than 100 years ago and was used to supply drinking water to people and animals. The associated fountain (5m deep, 2m wide) is probably more than 150 years old.
In earlier times, the complex was guarded by a well guard.

This "Alte Pumpe" (Old Pump) is part of the Büdesheim Wine-Pirsch-Pfad (wine-hunting trail), a 2.8 km long wine exploration trail with a total of 14 stops. Winemakers from the suburbs of Büdesheim and Kempten have apparently joined forces to make the southern side of the Rochusberg even more interesting. We met some very cheerful groups!
