From 1910 to 1930, Arenberg-Fortsetzung was the "model mine" of the city of Bottrop. Closed in 1930, the site lay fallow for 60 years before the Arenberg-Fortsetzung industrial park was built with an area of 70,000 square meters. The core of the industrial park is the Bottrop Founders and Technology Center (BGT GmbH), which has found its home in the original mine buildings of the Lohnhalle, Waschkaue and Alte Schmiede.
