Arenberg-Fortsetzung Colliery

The buildings of the continuation colliery were regarded as exemplary buildings in terms of the industrial architecture of their time. The mine owners manifested their social position and their sense of responsibility for the urban design with the industrial architecture, which was exemplary for the time. Even the purely functional building for the maintenance of the locomotives was designed in a sophisticated way. The side windows were expressively integrated into the facade. The facade was structured rhythmically by pilaster strips. The gable walls of the engine shed were structured by the projections and recesses of the facing bricks. The roof structure with the attached daylight lantern was designed extremely filigree and harmoniously in a curved shape

The old wage hall is an architectural highlight.
