The workers' settlement for the miners of the 1/2 shaft of the "Zeche Vereinigte Welheim" was built in the Welheim district of the same name in Bottrop between 1914 and 1923. With over 650 houses planned according to the garden city principle, the settlement today represents an important monument ensemble of the mining settlements in the Ruhr area. It is worth taking a stroll through the spacious complex, which is apparently a popular residential area after its fundamental renovation as part of the IBA Emscher Park.
