Saint Barbara (Greek: Αγία Βαρβάρα, Agia Barbara) († December 4, 306?) is a Christian saint and martyr. She is one of the Fourteen Emergency Helpers. Very little is known with certainty about Saint Barbara. The year of her death is also uncertain. According to the Historia sive legenda beatissime virginis Barbare ac martiris, written by Johan van Wackerzeele (ca. 1350-ca. 1400), she was martyred under emperor Maximinus I Thrax, who reigned from 235-238, but according to the Golden legend[1 ] she died under Emperor Maximian, who reigned from 286-305.
