The simply designed church was then built in the years 1879/1880. The inauguration took place on September 16, 1880 by Superintendent Moeller. The church building, which was built as a hall church, shows elements of neo-Gothic in its design. The nave has a three-sided chancel facing south-east. The facades are stone-faced and structured through the alternation of granite surfaces and brick elements. It is the only church built of granite in the Eastern Harz Mountains.

The only granite stone church in the eastern Harz is in Friedrichsbrunn. "That's no coincidence," recalls Friedrichsbrunn's mayor Jürgen Zehnpfund. The first church as a simple wooden church was built in 1775. The colonial village of Friedrichsbrunn was founded by Frederick the Great. It consisted of 53 houses with 184 inhabitants. As early as 1796, however, due to the lack of suitable timber for building, the houses in the village began to decay. The weather always increased the churches of the colonist village.

1878 wurde die alte baufällige Kirche erst polizeilich gesperrt und dann 1879 abgerissen. Die schlicht gestaltete neue heutige Kirche wurde dann in den Jahren 1879/1880 errichtet. Die Einweihung erfolgte am 16. September 1880. Das als Saalkirche erbaute Kirchengebäude zeigt in seiner Ausführung Elemente der Neogotik. Das Kirchenschiff verfügt über einen nach Südosten ausgerichteten dreiseitigen Chorabschluss. Die Fassaden sind steinsichtig erstellt und durch den Wechsel von Granitflächen und Ziegelsteinelementen gegliedert. Es handelt sich um die einzige aus Granit errichtete Kirche im Ostharz.
