The Magdeburg City Hall is located on the Alter Markt in the city center. It is the seat of the city administration and one of the most important buildings in Magdeburg. The City Hall has a long history: there was already a town hall there in the Middle Ages, which was destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries. The current building essentially dates from the post-war period but was later modernized and extended. In front of the City Hall are well-known sights such as the Magdeburger Roland and the historic water pump.
