The church is made of yellow bricks by the architects P.V. Jensen and C. Andersen. It was inaugurated on March 23, 1915. In the apse is a fresco by E. Risbye from 1925. An old prophecy says: 'If Gedser gets his own church, the town will go under in the storm surge.
