      The tower was built in 1895 on the occasion of the 80th birthday of Otto von Bismarck. After destruction in WW2, it was repaired and renamed Tower of Youth. After the fall of the tower was renamed Bismarckturm again in 1995 and renovated. Of the original 240 Bismarck towers, 173 are still preserved today, 146 of them in Germany.

            Since 2005, the tower hiking trail near Bad Freienwalde - a section of the Oderlandweg - has connected four observation towers and several viewing points over a length of twelve kilometers and a total altitude of 490 meters.
