For the first time Kißlegg is mentioned in 824 as Ratpotiscella. On February 28, 1394 King Wenceslas in Prague gave the dominions the market right and the high and low jurisdiction. In 1548, 1704 and 1756 Kißlegg burned down almost completely. Famine reports the Chronicle in the years 1614, 1635 and 1682. Kißlegg 1806 finally came to the Kingdom of Württemberg. In 1828, the independent communities Kißlegg, Sommersried, Emmelhofen and Wiggenreute emerged. On April 1, 1934 Kißlegg was born. In 1972, the incorporation of Immenried and Waltershofen. Kißlegg today has about 8,600 inhabitants.
