The tranquil town of Röslau is located on the Porzellanstraße and marks the geographic center of the Fichtelgebirge. It goes without saying that porcelain played an important role in the town: from 1907 to 2000, the porcelain manufacturer Gebr. Winterling had its headquarters here. In addition, Röslau is known to this day for piano strings and spring wire.

Röslau has around 2100 inhabitants including all its districts. It is beautifully situated on the Bavarian upper reaches of the Eger at 555 to 602 meters. The "Zwölfgipfelblick" viewing platform is the geographical center of the Fichtelgebirge and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.
Röslau is the headquarters of Stahl- und Drahtwerk Röslau GmbH, a manufacturer of spring steel wire and market leader in musical strings for grand pianos and pianos. In 2001, the company Druckfederntechnik Röslau was founded in buildings of the former Winterling porcelain factory. It is a branch of Scherdel GmbH and currently employs over 200 people.

The town of Rößlein was first mentioned in 1398 in the fief book of the Nuremberg burgrave Johann III. In 1419, Heinz von Lüchau was enfeoffed with the manor. In 1467, the town came to the Lords of Reitzenstein; in 1488, the fief went to Wilhelm von Schirnding, who subsequently owned most of Röslau as a fief. In 1651, the fief of Oberröslau was awarded to Philipp von Waldenfels. In 1754, the Oberröslau manor was divided, and in the middle of the 19th century it came into common ownership.
