The Wasserschloß Westerholt is the ancestral seat of the Counts of Westerholt. Already in the middle of the 14th century a fortified complex was mentioned here, but of this old castle with the exception of the moats nothing is preserved. In the course of numerous renovations and new buildings Westerholt lost its fortification and presents itself to the visitor today as a built in the style of classicism castle of the 19th century. His mansion houses a hotel, while the outbuildings are used as a restaurant and café. Right next to the castle is the Old Village Westerholt, which belonged to the freedom Westerholt at the time. 58 half-timbered houses restored according to historical model are densely packed in the narrow streets around the parish church of St. Martini and invite you to a visit with medieval flair. Since 1991, the settlement has been listed as a complete area.

Right next to Westerholt Castle, the recreational area "Die Baut" stretches with the Westerholter forest and invites you for a walk.
