The Königsstuhl Skywalk is a suspended observation platform above the Königsstuhl chalk cliffs of Rügen. The elliptical circular path, known as the Königsstuhl, is supported by a giant guyed mast and hovers above the 118-meter-high Königsstuhl, the largest chalk cliff in Germany. The Königsstuhl Skywalk is barrier-free and therefore also accessible for wheelchair users and families with strollers.

Yes, that is a gigantic structure that was even built by a regional company from Lauterbach

Planning began in 2011. Now, the Königsstuhl has a skywalk.

The new viewing platform was built on the chalk cliffs at the Kaiserstuhl.

It is free-floating and is intended to relieve pressure on the porous chalk rock.

The previous viewing platform at the Königsstuhl suffered from the crowds of visitors.

There were fears that the Königsstuhl would collapse. Since the chalk cliffs are unstable
and the large number of visitors puts a heavy strain on them, a new viewing platform was needed. The foundation stone for the skywalk was laid at the end of August 2021.

The previous viewing platform was cordoned off during construction.

Next to the Königsstuhl, workers screwed and welded together the individual parts of the 90-meter-long, circular viewing platform. In spring 2023, the time had finally come: On April 22, 2023, the Skywalk Rügen opened to the public.

It's worth the €12 entrance fee; A uniquely beautiful experience with fantastic views.
