At this point begins (or ends) the 123km long and very beautiful Ilmtal bike path. You should drive the bike path to the end in Kaatschen / Weichau, even if you then drive a bit along the Saale. There is the opportunity to rest in beautiful surroundings - Großheringen is rather drab.

The Ilm Valley Cycle Route (also Ilmradweg) is a 123 km long cycle path along the Ilm, which leads with low and medium difficulty from Allzunah above the Ilmquelle to Ilmmündung in Großheringen and 2 km further to Kaatschen-Weichau on the Saale, with connection the Saale Cycle Route (Wikipedia).
