A fairly small park on Shaoxing Road, only 2400sqm, in what can be considered the old town of Shanghai. Construction of the park started in 1950 by demolishing old houses and the park was opened to the public in 1951. An all-round restauration was done in 1998. The park today is mainly geared towards the elderly (I am not making this up, this is written on the information board at the park entrance).

The park also displays a statue of Umeya Shokichi, born in Nagasaki in 1868, and a friend of Sun Yat-Sen. Sun Yat-Sen was leader of the Chinese Nationalist Party, influential in overthrowing the Qing Dynasty and first president of the Republic of China. He is considered the father of modern China.
