Church of San Giuseppe (Orvieto)

The Chiesa di San Giuseppe is not the cathedral, so don't get confused by the wrong pictures here. The church is rather inconspicuous, halfway to the Torre del Moro and certainly in the shadow of the cathedral.

For this church in Orvieto, "San GUISEPPE", the foster father of Jesus Christ, was chosen as the patron saint. Like Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist, he is a man on the threshold of the Old and New Testaments. Joseph came from the house of David, one of the twelve tribes of Israel. He was a carpenter by trade and the betrothed of the Mother of God Mary.
The feast day of Saint Joseph in the calendar of saints is March 19th, and the church also celebrates the feast of "Joseph the Worker" on May 1st.
