The artwork Pýramídisk abstraksjón is by Ásmund Sveinsson, who was born in 1893 at Kolsstaður in Miðdálur, Dala County. The artwork was installed in 1975 on the occasion of Women's Year, and it was the women's association of Akraness, Menningarsjóður bæjarins and Sementsverksmiðjan that covered the costs. Ásmundur studied carving and drawing with Ríkhard Jónsson and Þórarn B. Þorláksson and also studied in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Paris but in at least in the last-mentioned city he was awarded and then for his exam project Sæmundur á selenm. Among the works of art that can be seen in Ásmund's garden at Sigtún are the works "Tröllkona", "Veðurspámaður", "Gardyrkjumaður", "Tónar hafsinns" and "Helreidn". In 1981, Ásmund's work, "Sonartorrek" was staged at Borg á Mýrum in connection with Egil Skallagrímsson's poem of the same name, which he wrote in the 10th century to soothe his grief for his dead sons. Many other outdoor artworks by Ásmund can be found in Reykjavík and other places. Ásmundur died in 1982.
