Originally founded in 777, the church underwent major renovations in the 12th century. Further changes were made in the 16th century, including raising the height of the medieval church, replacing the wooden roof structure with a vaulted ceiling, and adding a portico to the front facade. The interior of the church is home to several notable works of art, including two paintings from the school of Zacchia il Vecchio and a 14th-century fresco of the Madonna enthroned with two angels. The bell tower, built in 1797, is a beautiful example of the late Baroque style.

A church dedicated to S. Prospero in Antraccoli is remembered in 718; another church, founded in 777, is dedicated to S. Michele. A larger building replaced the original settlement in the 12th century; in the 16th century it underwent changes. The bell tower dates back to 1797.
