Tips

  • Martin Luther (* November 10, 1483 in Eisleben, County Mansfeld; † February 18, 1546 ibid) was a German Augustinian monk and professor of theology, who became the originator of the Reformation. He saw God's promise of grace and justification through Jesus Christ as the sole basis of the Christian faith. On this basis, he wanted to eliminate what was wrong with the Roman Catholic Church at the time and to restore ("re-form") it to its original evangelical form. Contrary to Luther's intentions, during the course of the Reformation there was a schism in the church, from which emerged Evangelical Lutheran churches and other denominations of Protestantism (Wikipedia).
