On July 31, 1949, the Jozef Simons monument was unveiled. The monument is a work of art by sculptor Albert Poels. It represents a book with a bronze plate on the back with the image of Jozef Simons and figures of his works and a couch on the sides. Jozef Simons was born in Oelegem.
