a modern city gate that is supposed to connect the city.

"The work of art has adorned the Zingel since September 2021: the Meldorfer Schwung.
It is something very special in several respects: it was created slowly and steadily during the aggravating circumstances of the CoVid lockdowns, with a lot of expert knowledge and a high level of commitment from everyone involved behind the scenes.
It is the award-winning result of a nationwide competition that the city announced with the aim of giving the lavishly and livably renovated city a special work of art to take with it.
Haberland's design already promised to implement the diverse wishes for the work of art in an exciting way: the stainless steel sculpture, which weighs several tons, emerges lightly and buoyantly from the ground with a diameter of 50 cm and rises upwards into airy realms. As a junction of the three access roads, the sculpture marks the Zingel and, as a stylized gate, shows the way to the city center.
A wonderful interplay of light and shadow accompanies you through the day and seasons, always catching the next glance. In certain sunlight, the polished edges of the "bubbles" shine. At the same time, the wave shape with its "bubbles" testifies to the connection with the North Sea and is reminiscent of Meldorf's past as a port city.
You can see it in the Meldorf swing: it was not created "as if" for this place, but Haberland designed it precisely so that it belongs here and nowhere else: visible from afar, but not dominant, expansive, with a playful gesture, a symbol for Meldorf and its citizens to remain lively, animated and full of energy.
