In this part of the forest, the trees are curiously curved. There are several theories about the cause. In part, soil contamination is mentioned, but also the knocking off of the tops, from which fir-trees were made and then the curved further growth. The cause is not resolved. He seems to be very popular with families. After we met no one for about 20 km, there were several families with children.

Very small forest a little south of the Gryfino with unusual crooked trees. A real eye-catcher.

In north-western Poland, four kilometers south of the municipality of Gryfino (German: Greifenhagen), not far from the Brandenburg border lies the "crooked forest" (Polish: Krzywy Las), which is the subject of numerous myths. There is talk of magic, but also of war damage and human intent. Because the one hundred pines of the natural monument literally avoid the general rules of botany: they all curve in an arc to the north before, like the other trees in the forest, they grow straight up. Planted around 70 years ago, the 11 to 15 meter high pines with their curved trunks present an impressive picture.
