The copper mill was built in 1622 as a wire mill. Brass wire was produced here using water power.
In 1687 the copper mill was built on the ruins of the wire mill and the copper yard as a residential building. Plates were carved here from heated copper.
In 1841 the mill was expanded to include a factory building with a chimney and converted into a cotton weaving mill. In 1899 it had to close its doors.
