The relatively young village church of Thurnhosbach is visible from afar in the middle of the village on an elevated position. A previous church building at the same location can be traced back to the 15th century. Today's church was built after a fire in 1899, a sandstone plaque above the portal commemorates the year of the fire. The previous building from 1763 was then destroyed down to the enclosing walls.

The small part of Sontra has already had three churches. Everyone was in the same place. One church burned down in 1899 and another collapsed in 1735.
Today's and third place of worship in the community was inaugurated on May 14, 1902
