Geometrically arranged trees and bushes give structure to this idyllic semicircle, countless types of perennials radiate their playful charm in late summer. And they all revolve around just one thing: the "hair-washing lady", a bronze statue by the sculptor Martin Mayer, which Dr. h.c. Heinrich Vetter donated to the Luisenpark.
And when the days get shorter again towards the end of the year, a visit to the perennial garden is particularly worthwhile: Autumn asters, coneflowers and anemones are preparing their big blossom festival. The name "Aster" is borrowed from the Greek and means "star". In addition to the autumn aster, there are also summer asters that bloom from July to September in the perennial garden: the lavender-blue aster frikartii or the gold-haired aster with their yellow, spherical flowers are well-known. The so-called cushion aster, "Lady in Blue", blooms well into October and regularly provides entire fields in perennial gardens that shine like cushions in bright violet.

The perennial garden is arranged symmetrically around the sculpture “Washing Hair” by Martin Mayer. Asters bloom here in summer and autumn. Species such as Japanese blood grass, riding grass and giant reed are cultivated in the grass beds. There has been a show vineyard since 2004. The rose promenade, where wild roses and cultivars, climbing and bed roses grow, leads along the large leisure meadow.
