Bellenkrappen is a beautiful vantage point. Here, a long and narrow branch of the Altrheim River flows into the Rhine. The Altrheinarm is also conveniently called Bellenkrappen. A beautiful nature reserve on the Reißinsel (Reiß Island).

In the 18th century, the Bellenkrappen was still an open branch of the Rhine, which separated the "big Bannwörth" and "small Kaiserwörth" areas from the "Albersgrund". However, the straightening of the Rhine in the 19th century closed off the southern tributary from the rest of the forest park.

The Bellenkrappen is the most idyllic thing Mannheim can offer. Definitely worth seeing.
