Gardabos

Gardabos, a surprising discovery between dune area and beach.
The Gadra forest is part of the Vroongronden.
We want to name this beautiful piece of nature separately because it has become an independent place.

The name Gadra comes from the former farm that was privately owned until the fifties and now serves as a management farm of Staatsbosbeheer. The letters stand for Happiness Present Through Rich Labor.

The forest is not that big but is known for its many oaks and in the autumn for the numerous mushrooms present. The Gadrabos is always open and accessible to everyone and a nice 'find your way' walking route has been mapped out especially for the little ones among us.

Did you know, west of this the open meadow, in ww2 it was a German decoy airfield.. The bombcraters are still there as little pools.
