Location: Merkendorf, Landkreis Ansbach, Middle Franconia, Bavaria, Germany
The first council meeting was held in 1479. A three-part relief was attached in 1933 above the portal with the coat of arms of Merkendorf. It commemorates the visit of King Maximilian I in 1506. The king can be seen in the middle of the relief, the citizens of Merkendorf are paying homage to him to the left and Maximilian I's entourage can be seen to the right. A commemorative plaque on the town hall reads: "On the Monday after All Saints' Day 1506, Kaysser Maximilian was welcomed in this town hall."
The current town hall dates from the years after the Thirty Years' War. The previous construction was destroyed on March 12, 1648 by a fire caused by Swedish horsemen, which destroyed a large part of the city.
