The Boerenmolen on the corner of the Oude Bruggeweg and the street Kouter is part of an exceptional mill site. Characteristic is the high ensemble effect between the high hull of a tower mill from the mid-19th century and the miller's house. This house was housed around 1922 in the former watermill built in 1840 on the winding Waal or Jabbeekse stream (“Walebeek” on Atlas der Buurtwegen, around 1845). The cooperative operation of the windmill from 1906 explains the name Boerenmolen.

In 1840, a watermill of the type undershot mill on the Waalbeek was built on this site. This functioned as a corn mill and an oil mill. In 1858 a windmill was built next door, then called Koutermolen . Since then, the watermill has functioned solely as an oil mill, while the windmill was used for grinding corn. In 1886 the windmill was equipped with a gas engine, while in 1906 a steam engine was installed at the water mill, thus creating a steam oil mill.
