Once upon a time there were elaborately designed draw wells at all four corners of the (Neustadt) market square. Most of these were destroyed in World War II. The preserved Renaissance fountain with the coat of arms of the County of Hanau was repositioned in 1984 at the level of the Paradiesgasse in the line of sight between the town hall and the Walloon-Dutch Church.
