The Arco Ganganelli - Arch erected in 1772 dedicated to Pope Clement XIV. When in 1769 his fellow citizen Cardinal Lorenzo Ganganelli was elected Pope, the local authorities thought they had to celebrate this event. Construction of the arch began in 1772 and ended in 1777, to a design by Cosimo Morelli of Imola, the official architect of the Holy See. The top bears a large papal coat of arms in the center. According to Morelli's original project, the arch was to be surmounted by a large marble statue depicting the Pope performing the act of blessing. The design of the statue was subsequently designed by Canova and it is now located in Rome on the Pope's tomb in the Basilica of the Holy Apostles.Source: santarcangelodiromagna.info/arco-ganganelli
