    Steg / Triesenberg hamlet

The Steg hamlet belongs to the municipality of Triesenberg (1300 m above sea level)

Steg above Triesenberg in the Principality of Liechtenstein is the cross-country skiing centre for the well-known holiday resort of Malbun. The former Maiensäss of the Walser settlement of Triesenberg also houses an idyllic mountain chapel.

The Steg hamlet at 1312 m above sea level is a holiday and hiking area in the Principality of Liechtenstein and belongs to the municipality of Triesenberg. Steg is located in the Samina Valley and was once a Maiensäss for the farmers of Triesenberg, a Walser settlement. The name "Steg" refers to the bridge that crosses the Samina here. Today, Steg, about halfway between the village of Triesenberg and the holiday resort of Malbun, which also belongs to the municipality, is the starting point for many different hikes in idyllic landscapes in summer, for example through the Valüna and Naaf Valleys to the Palatinate Hut of the Liechtenstein Alpine Association.

In winter, Steg is the starting point for the 15 km long cross-country ski trail into the idyllic Valünatal. Three kilometers of it can be illuminated as a night trail. And tobogganing enthusiasts can enjoy a 1000 m long natural toboggan run from Alp Stücka down to Steg.

A small church is already marked in Steg on a map from 1721, testifying to the importance of the religious life of the Walsers. In 1817, the chapel of St. Wendelin and Martin on Steg was either expanded or rebuilt. The current state of the idyllic mountain chapel dates back to 1906/07; the round bell tower also dates from this time.

Beautiful view from the hiking trail on the hamlet of Steg in the center of Liechtenstein in front of a beautiful mountain backdrop.
