It took over 600 years to build the castle of Barletta, the work was begun in the 11th century by the Normans and finished in the 17th century. Over this period of time, the castle has undergone many architectural changes. The best-known architectural elements are the four corner bastions. You can visit both the castle and the civic museum.

With a square plan and 4 spear-shaped bastions at the corners, it was built by the Normans in 1090 and subsequently enlarged by the Swabians.

Superb Norman castle overlooking the sea. Well maintained facility and gardens, well worth a visit!
