Musée L

Quiet, a museum? Not in Louvain-la-Neuve, where in the Musée L the works of art dialogue : a Buddha next to a medieval Christ, classical writing against calculators... The UCL museum selects from its inventory of 32,000 works unprecedented combinations to explore the world and our to illuminate human nature. The visitor gets to see art, but not exclusively. Pieces from the scientific collections of the UCL also get a starring role. The 2,600 m² exhibition space displays specimens from natural history, archaeological and ethnographic objects as well as scientific inventions in a building that is a symbol of Belgian modern architecture. It should be clear that the Musée L is no ordinary museum. It is a place where exchange and experience, emotion and discovery go hand in hand.

The Musée L (or University Museum of Louvain) is a Belgian museum belonging to the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain) and located in the former Science Library, in Louvain-la-Neuve, in Walloon Brabant.
It is the first large museum to bring together the heritage of a Belgian university and present it to the general public.

A Buddha next to a Christ from the Middle Ages, ancient writings next to calculators... the Museum L, rich in 32,000 pieces, dares the most unprecedented and extraordinary encounters to speak to us about the world and humanity. Works of art are noticeable there, but not only because the visitor can also observe the scientific collections of the UCL. Natural history specimens, archaeological and ethnographic objects or scientific inventions are exhibited on 2,600 m² of the exhibition, in the heart of an emblematic building of modern Belgian architecture. The Museum L is a museum like no other: it is a place for exchanges and for life, dedicated to emotion and exploration.
