The Anker Bridge is the former connection between the factory buildings of the Anker-Werke. Together with the exposed Lutter, it is a popular photo motif. The Anker-Werke was a German company based in Bielefeld that specialized in the manufacture of sewing machines, cash registers, accounting machines, small motorcycles and bicycles. After the Second World War, the company began reconstruction in 1948, shifting its focus to the production of office machines and cash registers. In 1976, Anker-Werke AG filed for bankruptcy. Various takeovers took place over the years, most recently by the software giant Oracle in 2014. Since 2015, the most well-known division of the Anker-Werke (cash register systems) has been privately owned again and operates as an independent company. It continues to have its headquarters in Bielefeld.
