Consisting of three sub-areas, the reserve stretches between Theesen and Vilsendorf along the Moorbach stream. The L 855 state road runs to the east, the L 779 to the south, and the L 783 to the west. At the southern edge of the reserve flows the Johannisbach stream, which houses the approximately 20-hectare Obersee lake.
