The Reinhardsmühle (Reinhards Mill) is a historic site in the idyllic Dhron Valley near Morbach, a destination for hikers on the Hunolsteiner Klammtour dream loop, offering a deep insight into the region's past. The mill was first mentioned in writing in 1396 under the name "Mathysenmulen," which underscores its long historical significance in Hunsrück agriculture. Over time, the mill became closely associated with the nearby Hunolstein Castle and was acquired by Count Felix von Hunolstein in 1826. Its current name dates back to the Reinhard family, who acquired the mill in 1898 from the descendants of the Reeves of Hunolstein and operated it until operations ceased in 1956. Today, the Reinhardsmühle—located in the valley along the Dhron River—is located on the way to the wildly romantic section of the hike, after passing the Walholz Church, which stands alone in the Wiesental valley. It is a historic landmark marking the transition to the wildly romantic valley section where the Dhron River winds its way between large boulders in the streambed, and halfway along, the striking Kopus rock underscores the geological uniqueness of the quartzite vein in the central Hunsrück. The Reinhardsmühle thus represents the centuries-old connection between human settlement, craftsmanship, and the harnessing of natural forces in the Dhron Valley.
