The striking late Gothic town hall (built around 1430) connects the “Upper Market” and the “Lower Market” and is the city's landmark and symbol of Neumarkt's history. A stone coat of arms on the facade with a Latin inscription, the monogram “HS” and the year 1575 seems to indicate the completion of the extension. For a visit by Prince Ludwig III. In 1906, the previously rather simple interior and exterior views of the town hall were upgraded with a sandstone portal in the Neo-Renaissance style (towards the Upper Market), additional battlements on the roof and valuable furnishings. During the bombing raids on April 20, 1945, the town hall burned to the ground. The well-known reconstruction architect Hanns Meier rebuilt the Neumarkt landmark in a simpler form in 1956/57 within the basic historical forms. A fundamental renovation took place in 1999.
