The sentence that Götz shouts to the leader of the superior imperial troops is famous: "As always, I have due respect for His Imperial Majesty. But as for him, tell him he can kiss my ass."

The Götz von Berlichingen Monument commemorates the famous Imperial Knight with the Iron Hand, who was born around 1480 and immortalized by Goethe's drama.

The Götz quote – the “Swabian greeting”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe created a literary monument to him in the third act of his play Götz von Berlichingen, published in 1773 and premiered in 1774, with the
        “Götz quote”:
“But tell him, he can lick my ass!”
So Götz von Berlichingen certainly did not want to “greet” the emperor when he exclaimed: “But tell him, he can lick my ass!” –
he simply wanted to be left alone by the emperor.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart also took up the Swabian greeting with the canon Leck mich im Arsch KV 231 (1782). The canon Leck mir den Arsch fein recht schön saubere KV 382d was long attributed to Mozart, but was written by Wenzel von Krzowitz.
