West of Harpstedt in 1907 the Jew Iwan Goldschmidt acquired a plot of land of about 600 square meters. A total of eight funerals took place here between 1910 and 1937.

During the Second World War, four Eastern European forced laborers were buried in the cemetery. They are two Polish, one Yugoslav and one Russian citizen.

The cemetery was privately owned until 1979 and was then acquired by the State Association of Jewish Communities in Hanover and underwent extensive repairs. A considered transfer of the non-Jewish war dead was rejected for legal and religious reasons.

On a bronze plaque at the entrance to the cemetery, all Harpstedt Jews who were victims of Nazi persecution were recorded.

The cemetery is very small, maybe 10x80m. There are about 10 tombstones and a memorial stone for 3 families who died in concentration camps. A detour is worthwhile.

"Citizens of the town of Harpstedt who became victims of the Nazi persecution of the Jews" is the headline on the bronze plaque. Words chosen respectfully.
Which of US became victims of the Nazi era
