Hohenburg Castle stands on a basalt cone in the village of Homberg. The complex originated in 780 as a Franconian royal estate, but its current form dates back to the 12th century. The curtain wall, the gate tower, the keep, and numerous building foundations have been preserved. In modern times, the well, which is over 150 meters deep and is now the castle's main attraction, was also uncovered. Despite the lack of buildings, Hohenburg Castle is worth a visit. The complex, with its expansive views and impressive fountain, is inviting visitors. The outer bailey now houses a restaurant.burgenarchiv.de/burg_hohenburg_in_hessen

My smallest hike includes the area of the ruin from outside and inside.
Admission is free and an employee has also opened the doors to the attached registry office. On individual boards you can read the story of the ruin. The tower is always open and accessible. Inside the tower, halfway up, you'll find the twelve star signs all around. Absolutely worth seeing for me.

In the course of modern times, the well, which is more than 150 meters deep, was uncovered and is now the main attraction of the castle. There are many places to rest here
