Landgrave of Hesse, born 1504, died 1567. Philipp lost his father as a child. At the age of 13, after arguments with his mother, Philipp was declared of age by the emperor in 1518: At the age of seventeen, landgrave Philipp sat opposite the 21-year-old Emperor Charles V at the Reichstag in Worms when Martin Luther asked the emperor his teachings known. After the conquest of Darmstadt by Franz von Sickingen, he took part in his defeat in 1522/23. Shortly thereafter he married Christine of Saxony, daughter of Duke the Bearded, with whom he suppressed the uprisings of Thomas Müntzer in Thuringia and others in the Fulda and Hersfeld area during the Peasants' Wars. In 1524 he became a follower of Martin Luther. In October 1526 he convened a synod in Homberg near Efze, at which laypeople and theologians together decided on the Reformation in Hesse.

It's nice when the history of a city is shown in an elemental way. Modern architecture meets history.
