Built in the 1920s this area was a gathering place for Americans, comprised of the Columbia Country Club, the Navy Club and a villa for Sun Ke, the son of Sun Yat-Sen. This later became the research campus for a biological and pharmaceutical company.
In the 2010s it has been upgraded and renovated, and from 2018 it has opened as a pedestrian, office, retail and gastro area.
