After the last tenant had ceased economic operations, the city of Nordhorn took over the property, which is a listed monument, in 1983.
Since a fundamental restoration in 1989, the mill buildings have been used as a venue for concerts, exhibitions, and other cultural events, and house the „Nordhorner Theaterwerkstatt“ and the „Atelier Sägemühle“.
