Floriffoux Castle

Formerly, it was reflected in the waters of the Sambre which developed one of its meanders at its feet, today, the castle of Floriffoux seems wedged between the N958 and an industrial zone.
The foundations may be medieval, but the current ensemble dates mainly from the 17th and 19th centuries. Of the primitive castle, two wings and three square towers remain, the north wing and the eastern tower having disappeared.
Owned by the de Coppins de Grinchamps, the château was bought by the local branch of the Dorlodot family in 1870. One of them, Jean, would later be mayor of Floriffoux.
Many village elders still remember Les Demoiselles de Dorlodot. The fifth generation of the family currently occupies the castle.
