Landgoed Zegenwerp is already mentioned in 1306. It is a fief of Oud-Herlaer, a place that we visit later in this stage. The lords of Zegenwerp had the fishing rights on a part of the Dommel. The name Zegenwerp comes from the name Zegen, which was a certain kind of fishing net. A castle is built in the 15th century. The English-style main house now stands on that spot, surrounded by some monumental trees, such as a 32 m high sequoia (giant sequoia) from 1851.
