With its almost temple-like architecture, the Friedrich-Wolf-Theater reflects the design standards for cultural buildings in the GDR in the early 1950s. In terms of culture, it is still the first house on the square to this day, with which the people of Eisenhüttenstadt feel very connected.

The riedrich-Wolf-Theater, built in 1955, was the first building in what was then Stalinallee and was created as a film theater together with the apartment blocks that were to replace the EKO factory settlement. At the same time, the central building was also part of an early vision of working, living and living, traces of which can still be found today. This also included the impatience with which the house was put into operation after a six-month delay in planning. An old steam locomotive was driven onto the pit tracks at the rear and served as a heating plant during the interior work and the first months of event operation. After the start with the Deutsches Theater Berlin (with Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing"😀), the hall with almost 800 seats experienced countless performances by artists and ensembles from all over the world.
