The watchtower in Niesky was once intended to be a signpost for people to their homeland.
The small white signs on top of its viewing platform are evidence of this: Ullersdorf, Jänkendorf, Schneekoppe, Landeskrone or Biehain are written on them.

Hiking
The watch tower is located in a wooded area on the western outskirts of Niesky near the ice rink. In principle, only the visual axes remain of the former park. The tower itself cannot be climbed either, especially since the trees would now obstruct the view.

The first tower was made of wood and was destroyed in a storm in 1833. In 1835 it was replaced by the current stone tower.
